Investing in our Communities

In Missouri, we invested nearly $3.1 billion in our wireless and wireline network infrastructure from 2020-2022 to connect more people to greater possibility.

Cities and communities throughout Missouri are seeing the impacts of this investment, including:

  • More than $20 million in the Cape Girardeau area,
  • More than $15 million in the Columbia area,
  • Nearly $15 million in the Jefferson City area,
  • Nearly $25 million in the Joplin area,
  • More than $550 million in the Kansas City metro* region,
  • More than $10 million in the St. Joseph area, and
  • More than $3.2 billion in the St. Louis metro**

  • Unlocking the Power of 5G: AT&T is America’s Most Reliable 5G Network2, connecting hundreds of millions of Americans to what matters most to them.
    • From rural communities to urban areas, our overall wireless voice and data network covers more than 99% of all Americans, including Missouri.
    • We’re working with businesses from manufacturing to healthcare to create new innovations and increase efficiencies with AT&T 5G.
    • We’re ramping up performance in high traffic areas, such as airports, stadiums and venues.
    • With 5G+ available in St. Louis and Kansas City, we’re also expanding our 5G network in less densely populated areas so people in communities such as Albany, Sedalia and Poplar Bluff have access to reliable connectivity.
  • Supporting First Responders by Expanding the Nation’s Public Safety Network: As America’s public safety communications partner, we’re giving more of the public safety community access to their network. With FirstNet, we’re helping connect first responders in nearly 250 communities across the state.
    • FirstNet includes unique benefits for first responders like always-on priority and preemption, high-quality Band 14 spectrum and a one-of-a-kind 5G experience to keep public safety mission ready.
    • We’ve rolled out Band 14 on nearly 1,400 sites across Missouri to provide public safety with truly dedicated coverage and capacity when they need it. Areas currently benefiting from Band 14 include St. Louis, Kansas City, and Joplin, in addition to Atchison, Schuyler, De Kalb, Linn, Saline, Callaway, Benton, Moniteau, Washington, Barton, Stone, Laclede, Shannon, Perry, and Stoddard counties.

At AT&T, we believe every American should be connected to the internet and we’re working with governments and non-profit organizations to make it happen. We’re on track to deliver on our $2B commitment between 2021-2023 to help bridge the digital divide and tackle barriers to broadband access, adoption and affordability.

  • We’re committed to providing affordable service for low-income households. The Access from AT&T plan– when combined with the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) – can provide no-cost home internet service for eligible households3,4.
  • We created AT&T Connected Learning to invest in digital inclusion, digital literacy and digital learning solutions to help today’s students and their families succeed wherever they learn – at home, in the community and in the classroom.
  • With 23 Connected Learning Centers already open across the U.S., we’ve announced plans to reach 50 total centers nationwide, including at Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • In Missouri, we’ve held 6 digital literacy workshops and distributed 100 computers to students and their families as part of our commitment to help bridge the digital divide.

  • May 30, 2023 | AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for St. Louis County: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in south St. Louis County, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new cell tower will enhance the area’s coverage and capacity in Bella Villa, Lemay, Patch and surrounding areas. Read more.
  • June 7, 2023 | AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Franklin County: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Franklin County, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. We’ve added a new cell tower to enhance AT&T’s coverage and capacity in areas southeast of St. Clair. Read more.
  • June 26, 2023 | AT&T and Compudopt Provide 200 Laptops to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis: Hundreds of St. Louis-area families will soon be directly benefit-ting from AT&T’s nationwide commitment to help bridge the digital divide. AT&T, working with Compudopt, will provide 200 refurbished laptops to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis. The computers, funded by an AT&T donation to Compudopt, will be given to St. Louis families with children in grades K-12 who do not have a laptop at home, helping them fully participate in our digital world.   • July 21, 2023 | AT&T and Compudopt Provide 100 Laptops to Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club of St. Louis: AT&T is continuing to bring its nationwide commitment to help bridge the digital divide to St. Louis, with the second donation of laptops this summer. Funded by an AT&T donation to Compudopt, 100 laptops will be distributed to families, primarily from the Dutchtown and Gravois Park areas of St. Louis, who have children in grades K-12 and who do not have a computer at home. AT&T is working with Compudopt and Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club of St. Louis (GSGBC) to provide laptops and digital literacy resources to help the families fully participate in our digital world.   • August 22, 2023 | AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Cass County: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Cass County, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new cell site will enhance the area’s coverage and capacity in Peculiar and surrounding areas, including along I-46. Read more.
  • August 31, 2023 | AT&T Contributes $15,000 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace: More than 60 children in Jackson and Cass counties will soon be able to sleep in their first bed, thanks to contributions from AT&T and volunteer construction work by AT&T® employees. The company is contributing $15,000 to the Kansas City SE Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a national non-profit which builds and delivers bunk beds to children and families in need.   • October 4, 2023 | AT&T Expands 5G Network in Carroll County: AT&T expanded its 5G network in Carroll County, giving residents, businesses, first responders and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity.  A new cell site in downtown Carrollton enhances coverage and capacity in the area. “In today’s connected society and economy, communication and connectivity are vital,” said Missouri state Rep. Peggy McGaugh (District 7). “Announcements like this are important because they highlight the commitment of private industry to continue investing here, supporting the quality of life which we enjoy and helping us attract new jobs and economic growth.”
  • October 19, 2023 | AT&T Expands 5G Network in Festus: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Festus, giving residents, first responders, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new site in Festus improves coverage and capacity west of I-55 and around the local golf club and events center. “As a career educator, I know how important mobile broadband connectivity is for our kids, allowing them to access lessons and other educational materials inside and outside of the classroom. AT&T’s new site in our community is not only great for education, it’s another tool to help our residents and first responders be better connected,” said State Senator Elaine Gannon.
  • November 8, 2023 | AT&T Expands 5G Network in Vienna: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Vienna, giving residents, first responders, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new site in Vienna improves coverage and capacity along Route 42 near Farm Service Road and Fly Creek. “In addition to serving in the legislature, my work as a law enforcement officer and in social services has reinforced for me the importance of mobile broadband service. Mobile connections are critical – and sometimes life-saving. I appreciate AT&T’s work to expand wireless coverage in our communities,” said State Rep. Bennie Cook.
  • January 4, 2024 | AT&T Expands 5G Network in Sullivan: AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Sullivan, giving residents, first responders, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new site in Sullivan improves coverage and capacity around Euclid Ave., Church Street and Clark Street in Downtown Sullivan. Dave Hinson, 2nd District Commissioner, Franklin County, said: “As a first responder, I know how critically important mobile connectivity is to those who protect our communities.  I’m glad AT&T is investing to keep our communities connected.
