AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Washington County

What’s the news? AT&T* has expanded its 5G network in Washington County, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. We’ve added a new cell site to enhance the area’s coverage and capacity, and help customers unlock the power of America’s Most Reliable 5G Network.1

The new tower will improve coverage and capacity to Irondale and the surrounding area. It marks the fourth new wireless site AT&T has launched in Washington County in the past 24 months.

Why is this important? We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. And AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 285 million people in over 22,000 cities and towns nationwide, which now includes Washington County. This helps Missouri residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet®. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

Our commitment to Missouri communities: From 2019 to 2021, we invested more than $2 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Missouri. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.

What people are saying:

Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03)

United State House of Representatives

“As people rely on their smartphones to stay in touch with friends and family, connect to the Internet, and conduct business, a robust wireless network is vital. In fact, it may be even more important for folks living in rural areas than for those in large cities. Investments like these are exactly what we need to strengthen and expand connections for the community and first responders alike.”

Craig Unruh

President, AT&T Missouri

“We want our customers to have a great experience. With AT&T service, they’ll be able to experience better network connectivity while streaming video, sharing on social media or connecting virtually with family and friends. We consistently work to provide better coverage for the community and its first responders. And we’re investing in our wireless network to accomplish that.”
