At times like this, connectivity is even more important. Keeping devices active and staying in contact with family and friends is critical.
AT&T is here to help alongside the Hoosier community.
Equipment & Employee Efforts
In recent weeks, working in collaboration with the non-profit Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC), AT&T deployed equipment and vehicles that provided free WiFi connectivity and device power charging stations. This equipment was stationed at various locations around impacted areas, including at the Hudson Campbell Sports Complex in Gary, Indiana.
Gary Mayor Eddie Melton joined AT&T employees at this site to hand out hundreds of supply kits, water and other items to residents impacted by storm damage.
Mayor Melton stated, “I want to thank AT&T for stepping up with a generous $10,000 donation to our recovery fund and for deploying equipment to provide Wi-Fi access and charging stations to residents impacted by the August 11 storm. This partnership is helping our residents stay connected to their families, access important information, and keep essential devices charged while we continue the recovery. We are grateful for AT&T’s commitment to Gary and for standing with our community when our residents need it most.”
Over the past two weeks, AT&T and ITDRC also stationed charging lockers or Wi-Fi/Charging trailers at the YWCA in Gary; Munster Community Park Social Center in Munster; Harrison Elementary School and Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in East Chicago; the Portage Police Department; the Highland Fire Department; and the Woodland Village RV Park in Portage.
Wireless Customer Waiver
To further help our wireless customers stay connected through this difficult period, we are waiving overage charges to provide unlimited talk, text, and data for AT&T Postpaid & Prepaid customers with billing addresses in zip codes* across affected areas.
Relief Fund Support
AT&T contributed a total of $30,000 to support local storm relief fund efforts.
- $10,000 to the Greater Gary Storm Recovery and Relief Fund, managed by the Legacy Foundation
- $10,000 to the Heart of Indiana United Way
- $10,000 to the Hamilton County Community Foundation
These contributions will assist communities impacted by recent severe storms across Indiana.
