AT&T Makes $52,000 Community Investment to Wichita Police and Fire Foundation
For a few hours on May 11, I was honored to be in the safest place in Wichita, surrounded by police officers and fire fighters who risk their lives ever day to protect property and save lives.
We were in Wichita Police Department Sub-Station Patrol East, where I stood with Wichita Mayor Lily Wu; Wichita Fire Chief Tammy Snow; Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan; local police officers, firefighters, congressional staff, and other local leaders to announce a $52,000 community investment from AT&T to the Wichita Police and Fire Foundation as part of AT&T’s commitment to supporting front line first responders who keep our communities safe.
The Foundation’s mission is to make Wichita a better and safer city by meeting the department’s essential and evolving needs. Both the police department and the fire department need assistance for their continued excellence in the community.
At AT&T, we have a longstanding history of supporting public safety. As public safety’s partner with FirstNet®, Built with AT&T – the only wireless network built with and for America’s first responders – we’ll continue to deliver the reliable connectivity first responders depend on to serve their communities.
During her presentation, Mayor Wu told the audience that “public safety is the foundation of a strong city. Every day, our police officers, firefighters, and first responders show up for Wichita with professionalism and courage. This investment from AT&T strengthens that work by providing resources that help them serve our community even more effectively.”
Fire Chief Tammy Snow said “…This contribution provides meaningful support for initiatives that enhance our ability to serve the community and care for our members. Partnerships like this make a lasting difference, and we sincerely appreciate AT&T’s commitment to public safety in Wichita.”
And Police Chief Joe Sullivan added: “We’re grateful to AT&T for stepping up to support the Wichita Police and Fire Foundation. Donations like this truly make a difference, not just for our department, but for the people we serve every day. This donation reflects a shared commitment to the Wichita community, and we’re thankful for AT&T’s willingness to stand alongside our officers, helping them serve our citizens and achieve our goals.”
I’m really grateful to Amy George Lumry, the Executive Director of the Wichita Police and Fire Foundation, who organized today’s event.
She told the audience that “this generosity of spirit reflects a shared commitment that has strengthened our community’s support of the frontline first responders of the WPD and WFD. This investment is both meaningful and impactful for their evolving needs as additional resources needed become identified. We are grateful for our continued partnership with AT&T.”
Supporting the people who protect our communities is important to all of us at AT&T. Our public safety personnel and the organizations that stand beside them serve with courage, compassion and commitment every day. We’re proud to support their work and grateful for all they do to help keep Wichita’s families, neighborhoods and businesses safe.
