AT&T New Hampshire recently joined up with the Nashua Police Athletic League (PAL) and Governor Kelly Ayotte to provide 100 refurbished laptops, backpacks and school supplies to New Hampshire students in need.
The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, and backpacks, provided by the Nashua Elks Lodge 720, were given out at a distribution event in Nashua attended by students, families, members of the law enforcement community, local elected officials and leadership from AT&T and FirstNet®, Built with AT&T.
We were grateful to have Governor Ayotte join us at the event and for her dedication to getting New Hampshire families connected.
“In addition to protecting and serving our communities, our law enforcement officers go above and beyond every day to give back and help those in need,” said Governor Ayotte. “I’m grateful to see this partnership between Nashua PAL and AT&T provide students headed back to school with the tools they need to be successful in the classroom.”
Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke also attended the celebration to hand out devices. His officers at the Nashua Police Department helped identify recipient families in Southern New Hampshire.
Through FirstNet – America’s public safety network built and operated by AT&T – we’ve been able to not only help public safety departments like Nashua stay connected during emergencies, but we are able to identify resources that help them do their jobs holistically. That includes working with Nashua PAL and Nashua PD to help them bring technology to families and engage with the community in a positive way.
“This generous contribution from AT&T is more than laptops. It’s a door to opportunity for Nashua’s youth,” said Shaun Nelson, Executive Director of Nashua PAL. “For many of our youth, access to reliable technology is a major barrier to academic and personal success. We’re incredibly grateful to AT&T for their commitment to equity and so proud to partner with them to help bridge the digital divide in Nashua and beyond!”
The giveaway is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. This includes distributing hundreds of computers and connected devices to students and their families across New Hampshire in recent years.
Access to connectivity is vital in helping to bridge the digital divide. We extend our thanks to everyone at Nashua PAL, Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke and the Nashua Police Department, Governor Ayotte and all those who helped make this effort a reality. Together, we can help provide people of all ages and from every community with the essential resources they need to thrive in the digital era.
