$12 Million to Support 170 Organizations in Chicago
Since 2017, AT&T and the AT&T Foundation have contributed more than $12 million to more than 170 organizations working to help residents in Chicago’s south and west side neighborhoods. This support is helping improve the lives of residents by supporting community initiatives and programs.
Bridging the Digital Divide: AT&T Connected Learning Centers
In our ongoing efforts to provide digital equity, we have inaugurated 2 AT&T Connected Learning Centers in Chicago. These centers offer students, seniors, and families free access to high-speed Internet, Wi-Fi, and computers. The goal is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in today’s digital world.
2,500 Free Laptops and iPads to Empowering Students and Families
Recognizing the crucial role that technology plays in education, we have distributed over 2,500 free laptops and iPads to Chicago students and families. By providing these essential tools, we are helping to bridge the digital divide and support students’ academic success.
Supporting Digital Literacy Through 50 Chicago Workshops
To build skills and confidence in using technology, we supported nearly 50 digital literacy workshops in Chicago. These workshops are designed to help parents and families navigate the digital landscape effectively, ensuring that they can make the most of the technological resources available to them. In addition, AT&T further supported these neighborhoods through job opportunities and hiring.
Hiring 1,700 Residents from Chicago’s South and West Side Neighborhoods
Job creation is a cornerstone of our community support. Since 2017, we have hired more than 1,700 residents from Chicago’s south and west side neighborhoods. By providing employment opportunities, we are contributing to the economic growth and stability of these communities.
Invested to Open an AT&T Retail Store in Englewood Neighborhood
Further supporting the community, we opened an AT&T corporate-owned retail store in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s south side.
