Connecting 250 Futures: Celebrating America by Investing in Illinois Students
Key insights
With Independence Day approaching, we asked a simple question: how can we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday in a way that truly matters?
For our team, the answer was clear—invest in the future of Illinois.
Through “AT&T Illinois’ 250 for 250,” we partnered with Compudopt, Human-IT, and local nonprofits to deliver 250 refurbished laptops and backpacks filled with school supplies to students across the state.
This week, we reached students in Chicago participating in the Youth District Advisory Council Summer Leadership Institute at Chicago Police Department headquarters. In Danville, we provided laptops through support of the Danville Public Schools Foundation.
These students are already making a difference in their communities. Providing them with reliable technology helps ensure they can continue to learn, lead, and pursue new opportunities.
In Chicago, our announcement to provide free laptops to the students was a surprise — and they couldn’t believe it.
We love providing these laptops because access to the internet can connect people to greater possibilities.
The way we say it is: “Connecting Changes Everything.”
In addition to the laptops, each backpack included more than supplies—it carried handwritten notes of encouragement from AT&T employees. That small gesture reflects our team members’ desire to inspire future generations.
This ‘250 for 250’ initiative builds on our broader commitment in Illinois, where we’ve delivered more than 8,000 devices to students and families. It also supports AT&T’s national work to help 25 million people get and stay connected by 2030, addressing the digital divide through access, affordability, and adoption.
As we celebrate 250 years of our country, we’re proud to carry forward AT&T’s legacy of connecting people to greater possibility. And I couldn’t be prouder of our AT&T Illinois team—because we truly bleed red, white, and AT&T blue.
