AT&T Statement on FCC Action to Enable Carriers to Block Robocalls

The following may be attributed to Joan Marsh, AT&T Executive Vice President of Regulatory & State External Affairs:

“Today, Chairman Pai took aggressive steps in the FCC’s campaign against the robocall problem by proposing new rules that will expand a provider’s ability to block calls that are believed to be unlawful or made with the intent to scam consumers.  We also support the Chairman’s safe harbor proposal, which will increase the arsenal of tools available to combat calls that are not authenticated.

“As the FCC warns, however, there is no silver bullet in this war as scammers continue to find new ways to reach unsuspecting consumers.  AT&T applauds the Commission’s ongoing efforts to work closely with industry as together we fight to combat unwanted and illegal robocalls.”
