Across the country and around the world healthcare workers and first responders are playing a critical role in helping care for their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why AT&T* is committed to providing much needed support for first responders as they help us through this difficult time.
To say “thank you” to our local heroes, AT&T is collaborating with several local organizations to provide more than $100,000 in free meals and groceries to healthcare workers and first responders in the St. Louis metropolitan area. AT&T is providing:
- $50,000 to the Missouri Nurses Association to support the Feed St. Louis’ Front Line initiative. Organized by a bi-partisan group of female state legislators, this campaign will be used to buy gift cards for nurses to local restaurants. The gift cards will be bought from local St. Louis restaurants offering delivery or curbside pick-up and go to nurses in COVID units, Medical ICUs, Emergency Departments and Pediatric ICUs.
- $50,000 to the St. Louis Police Foundation. This effort will touch every police officer in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County – about 4,500 first responders total – with several “Thank You” meals over a 4-week period. A combination of individually packaged meals delivered by local restaurants to precincts, and local restaurant gift cards delivered directly to officers will be part of the program.
“I don’t think we can adequately say ‘thank you’ to our health care workers and first responders for the job they do every day – and that’s especially true during this time.”
Craig Unruh, President – AT&T Missouri
“I don’t think we can adequately say ‘thank you’ to our health care workers and first responders for the job they do every day – and that’s especially true during this time,” said Craig Unruh, President – AT&T Missouri. “So even if it’s just showing our appreciation by providing them with a free meal, a gift card to a local restaurant, or gift cards for them to share with the unsung heroes that support them in their efforts, AT&T is honored to help.”
“On behalf of the entire St. Louis delegation of the Missouri General Assembly I’d like to thank AT&T for their commitment to be there and make a difference not just for our frontline nurses and local businesses but for our entire community,” said State Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman.
“AT&T has long been a great partner with law enforcement and the St. Louis Police Foundation, and we are thrilled that they were the first to step up and help us launch our meals for first responders program in St. Louis,” said Michelle Bagwell, president and executive director, St. Louis Police Foundation. “Telecommunications and the Internet are among the world’s most important resources, especially right now. Law enforcement could not stay on the frontlines without a way to stay connected. Thank you to AT&T for helping support our first responders, area restaurant workers and the St. Louis Police Foundation as we come together to fight COVID-19.”
These contributions are part of an initiative called Believe St. Louis. Believe St. Louis is an employee-led initiative with the goal of creating positive change in our communities. As part of our Believe St. Louis initiative, we are also providing contributions focused on broader community needs in response to the pandemic. Our work will continue to evolve and grow in the coming weeks and months to ensure we’re reaching the communities and personnel who need us most.
