“One of AT&T’s core values is to ‘Be There’ when people need us,” said Paul Weirtz, president of AT&T Minnesota. “Too many of our fellow neighbors in Duluth lack a safe, stable place to live. We are proud to support Duluth Harbor Mission and its efforts to lend a helping hand to those experiencing homelessness.”
According to a July report, the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in St. Louis County has increased 18 percent since last year. The survey was completed before the COVID-19 pandemic began, and many local organizations like Duluth Harbor Mission are seeing an even greater need this year as the crisis continues.
“Our mission is to not only restore hope and rest for those experiencing homelessness in Duluth, but to also help them get back on their feet and become self-sufficient,” said Veronica J. Ciurleo, Executive Director and CEO of Duluth Harbor Mission. “We’ve seen a greater need than ever before as this pandemic continues, and we are grateful for the support of residents and companies like AT&T as we help our fellow neighbors in need.”
Duluth Harbor Mission is a faith-based Gospel Rescue Mission providing food, shelter, and clothing to men, women and children experiencing homelessness in the city. Duluth Harbor Mission’s Day Shelter is a safe, quiet resting place for those who are homeless and those in need of a moment of rest. The Mission also provides support and other services to those in need.
