AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Terre Haute Regional Airport

What’s the news? AT&T customers and FirstNet® subscribers in Terre Haute got a big boost in wireless connectivity. We’ve added new small cells at the Terre Haute Regional Airport to enhance the area’s 4G (LTE) and 5G+ coverage and help give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service. Our investment is helping improve internet access and ensuring customers get the most out of their mobile devices.

Why is this important? We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. AT&T 5G+ using millimeter wave spectrum delivers super-fast speeds and unprecedented performances in high traffic areas including parts of more than 50 cities and more than 70 venues and airports, which now includes Terre Haute. This helps Indiana residents get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play. And it’s giving first responders on FirstNet – America’s public safety network – access to always-on, 24-hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data.

Our commitment to Indiana communities: From 2019-2021, AT&T invested more than $1 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in Indiana. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.

What is FirstNet? FirstNet is the only nationwide, high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders and the extended public safety community. Shaped by the vision of Congress and the first responder community following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, FirstNet stands above commercial offerings. It is built with AT&T in public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority – an independent agency within the federal government. The FirstNet network provides first responders with truly dedicated coverage and capacity when they need it, including unique benefits like always-on priority and preemption, and high-quality Band 14 spectrum. These advanced capabilities help fire, EMS, EMA, law enforcement and 9-1-1 personnel save lives and protect their communities.

What people are saying:

John Plasse

Sheriff, Vigo County

“It’s great to see this continued progress in extending wireless coverage to address public safety’s needs and priorities. Improved connectivity like this helps our deputies, firefighters and EMS carry out both their daily operations and their responses to emergency events. Simply put, public safety is now better equipped to serve the residents of Vigo County.”

Bill Soards

President, AT&T Indiana

“We want our customers to have a great experience. With these network improvements, local residents and first responders alike will be better able to connect through streaming video, sharing on social media or chatting virtually with family and friends. We consistently work to provide better coverage for the Terre Haute community and public safety – and we’re investing in our wireless network to accomplish that.”
