AT&T Believes Argentina and the Power of Collaboration

AT&T Believes is a companywide initiative led by our employees that aims to create a positive change in local communities, with a model for volunteerism that helps lift communities where we live and work. In today’s dynamic and interconnected world, empowering communities through collaboration is a strategic imperative. Such teamwork enables businesses to harness their resources and expertise to effect positive change and foster engagement within our communities. By aligning with a reputable foundation, companies can leverage their strengths to address pressing social issues, build meaningful relationships with the community, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future. Together, we can drive lasting impact, inspire change, and create a society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Through this lens, AT&T Believes Argentina launched in 2023 with the aim of engaging in social responsibility actions by collaborating with local non-profit organizations to conduct activities across the following priority areas:

  • Bridging the digital divide: Helping target segments of the community without access to technology, education, and work opportunities to develop the necessary digital literacy skills to thrive in today’s world; with a specific focus on bridging the gender digital divide.
  • Fostering sustainability-oriented initiatives around the community in which AT&T works, to help ensure measurable impact.
  • Generating long-term bonds with the community that goes beyond the 2023 activities, allowing genuine connections that will feed future initiatives.

After extensive local consultation for the year 2023, AT&T Believes Argentina has decided to work with two organizations: Technology with a Purpose and Reciduca.

Technology with a Purpose is a foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life of people and their environment through technology. They promote initiatives that generate a positive impact on the world, providing new opportunities, inclusion and integration. They seek to build alliances and strengthen ties to generate a real transformation in the community. They work to bring innovative and disruptive technology from the private sector to the social sector.

Residuca is a foundation that helps young people to finish high school, expand their employment opportunities and promote environmental care. To this end, they provide opportunities and tools to those who are in the last years of high school in contexts of social and economic vulnerability, so that they can graduate and develop a life with projects while being responsible with their community and environment. So that they can graduate and develop a Project Life being responsible with their community and environment

AT&T Believes Argentina is collaborating with Technology with a Purpose on an initiative crafted to disseminate IT knowledge, provide education, and establish connections among individuals of various age groups who would otherwise have limited access to the corporate world and employment prospects. I had the privilege of participating in one of the sessions, whose curriculum now includes the integration of the AT&T Believes program, which encompasses teachings in teamwork, leadership, project management, and career development. This program has positively impacted over 1,200 students.

With Reciduca, we are collaborating on a Mentoring and Professional Guidance program. This program is geared towards offering support to young adults aged 17-24 from underserved areas of Buenos Aires, enabling them to enhance their social and emotional skills, receive technical training, and enhance their capabilities for integration into the formal corporate job market. Through this initiative, the AT&T Believes team works with professionals from various business sectors to spend a day sharing their professional experiences, offering guidance, and strengthening the bonds necessary to continue supporting their ongoing development. This effort extends to female students and helps to address gender gap issues as well.

AT&T began its business in Argentina in 1996, offering a comprehensive service portfolio to clients in Argentina, helping them to put their business in motion. The services are implemented locally by experienced AT&T engineers and supported by a local account team. We’re supporting global enterprises across a wide range of industries such as business services, hospitality, financial services, manufacturing, and energy.  AT&T has an office in Buenos Aires which employs a staff of almost 90 professionals.
