Last year, Arizona saw the largest increase in the number of homeless youth in the nation1. And as one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities, Phoenix communities are among those most touched by this growing concern. Many young people experiencing homelessness do not have access to medical care or other essential resources, making it challenging for them to improve their situations.
That’s why we stepped up to support Phoenix Children’s Hospital Homeless Youth Outreach program. The program provides free medical care, counseling, and support services to homeless youth in the Valley.
When I toured the Crews’n Healthmobile, I was truly in awe of the range of services they provide to the most vulnerable in our community. The mobile unit allows Phoenix Children’s to travel to shelters, group homes, drop-in centers and schools across Phoenix — to care for their physical and mental health needs.
The $20,000 contribution will allow Phoenix Children’s Hospital to expand its outreach efforts and help to ensure that the program has the necessary resources to provide comprehensive care to young people in need.
We also teamed up with Phoenix Children’s Hospital for our employees to give back and engage in the community. AT&T employees jumped at the chance to do their part for Phoenix Children’s Hospital by bagging cookies for the cookie cart.
The cookie cart provides a small bit of comfort and joy to patients, families, and staff during what can be a challenging time. This simple act of kindness can brighten someone’s day and provide a much-needed break from the stresses of being in a hospital and we hope that our efforts were able to bring some joy and positivity to the children and their families.
