Earlier today, we got to see firsthand the deep impact that can be made when community organizations come together to help their neighbors.
Working with the Hoboken-based Computers 4 People team, AT&T volunteers delivered almost 200 laptops between Dvine Konektion in West New York and the Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA), along with digital literacy resources to help them fully participate in our digital world.
Each of these laptops went into the hands of a New Jersey resident who needed it – whether for school, career-building, or accessing essential online services. And all of it was a result of collaboration and teamwork between multiple organizations sharing a common goal of extending digital opportunities to more individuals.
The effort started with our company’s donation to Human I-T, who helped provide the refurbished laptops. From there, we worked with Computers 4 People to get the benefits of these laptops into the hands of residents who needed it most.
Having distributed over 2,000 computers in the New York City Metropolitan area and serving as a leading organization tackling the digital divide, Computers 4 People was the perfect organization to collaborate with.
With deep roots in the community, they were critical in facilitating the teamwork with the JCHA and Dvine Konektion to make sure that these laptops went to those individuals who would benefit most from the donation.

The distribution is just the start of our collaborations with community organizations across the area. In total, we are planning to distribute 250 refurbished laptops to people served by other community-based organizations, including:
- Church World Service,
- Hudson Community Enterprises,
- Rosa L. Parks School of Fine & Performing Arts High School,
- Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services
- and St Matt’s Lunchtime Ministry.
All of the organizations and individuals who will receive devices in the future will be identified by Computers 4 People.
In addition to the laptops, we also shared information about the Achievery, which is part of our AT&T Connected Learning initiative and nationwide commitment to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. We also provided information about the federal Affordability Connectivity Program (ACP) to attendees.
Through each relationship we build, we get digital resources to more and more individuals in need, getting us closer to bridging the digital divide and helping those in need thrive with opportunities.
