AT&T, Computers 4 People Provide 300 Laptops to New Jersey Students
Key insights
AT&T and Hoboken-based nonprofit Computers 4 People (C4P) have teamed up to provide 300 refurbished laptops to students and families across New Jersey.
These devices are made possible by AT&T’s $50,000 community investment in C4P. To date, C4P has distributed more than 125 of the 300 devices to families in need. The remainder will be given out in the coming months to students and families at a variety of organizations across the state.
Most recently, C4P was in Newark on April 1 to provide laptops to 10 young adults at Hopeworks. Those devices will support participants as they build technology skills, gain real-world work experience, and prepare for long-term careers. Hopeworks, a nonprofit social enterprise, partners with young adults to develop technical and professional skills while providing paid, hands-on experience through its businesses.
Computers 4 People is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide by repurposing e-waste into educational tools for under-resourced communities in New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
Support for C4P is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. This includes distributing thousands of computers to students and their families across New Jersey since 2021. AT&T will distribute 30,000 laptops nationwide in 2026.
AT&T is proud to collaborate with organizations like C4P to help close the digital equity gap in Newark and across New Jersey. Access to connectivity is vital in helping to bridge the digital divide and we’re glad we can provide these resources to those that need them most.
