A summer afternoon at Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley brought all the ingredients of a great field day: outdoor games, local food and even a visit from Sluggo, the Eugene Emeralds’ mascot. But the highlight of the celebration was a resource that will continue supporting Lane County youth long after summer ends: 100 Chromebooks.

AT&T and Human-I-T provided 100 refurbished Chromebooks to Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley for youth across Lane County. The devices, which include one year of free tech support from Human-I-T, will help recipients complete schoolwork, explore future careers, and stay connected to important online resources.

“We’re so grateful to partner with AT&T and Human-I-T to expand access to technology for young people in our community,” said Shelly Ivey, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley. “These devices will make a meaningful difference for youth across Lane County by helping them fully participate in today’s digital world.” 

Local leaders joined the Eugene celebration and shared their support for efforts to bridge the digital divide. Attendees included state and local elected officials, alongside school board members Ericka Thessen, Eugene School District 4J Board Chair, and Caleb Clark, Bethel School District Board Vice Chair.

The effort extends beyond Eugene. This summer, AT&T and Human-I-T also donated 100 laptops to Boys & Girls Club of Salem and 50 laptops to Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metro. Together, the three donations provided 250 devices to young people across Oregon, helping Boys & Girls Clubs connect more students and families with the technology they need.
