Queens Connected Learning Center Launches at Jamaica YMCA

For the fifth time in a year, AT&T has launched a new Connected Learning Center (CLC) in New York City.

Opening its doors this summer at the Jamaica YMCA in Queens, this dedicated learning center will provide internet access and high-quality educational tools to residents who encounter barriers to online participation. The center was made possible by a $50,000 AT&T contribution to the YMCA of Greater New York.

The Queens Connected Learning Center is the 11th CLC that AT&T has opened across New York state. They offer free access to digital resources, internet and technology. They also provide educational resources such as The AchieverySM, a free digital learning platform by AT&T, and free digital literacy courses in partnership with the Public Library Association. Tutoring and mentoring are also provided by community leaders.

New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Council Member Dr. Nantasha Williams attended the event and spoke about the importance of connectivity to Queens families.

“In Southeast Queens, we know that access to technology is access to opportunity. This new Connected Learning Center at the Jamaica YMCA is more than a resource, it’s a bridge for our families, students, and job seekers to thrive in a digital world,” said Council Member Williams. “I want to thank AT&T for their investment in our community, and for recognizing that closing the digital divide requires real partnerships and long-term commitment. I’m proud to support initiatives like this that uplift our district and reinforce our commitment to expanding STEAM education and digital equity for every generation.”

At AT&T, we have been working to help bring the right resources and the right technology to the right places, so that all students and families can achieve their goals. Our investment in the AT&T Connected Learning Center at the Jamaica YMCA directly reflects our commitment to get more Americans connected and make an impact in the communities we serve.

AT&T has worked closely with the YMCA of Greater New York since 2021, providing grant funding for various programs – including the Y’s Rowe Scholars program – and offering substantial assistance during their COVID and post-COVID rebuilding efforts. We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue this collaboration by bringing a CLC to Queens, and to support the life-changing work accomplished everyday by the team at the YMCA of Greater New York.

Bridging the digital divide nationwide

AT&T’s nationwide CLC effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. YMCA of Greater New York is one of 25 non-profits awarded CLCs by AT&T in 2025.

AT&T opens these centers within local nonprofit organizations that are already adept at supporting underserved populations within their community. The company plans to offer at least 100 locations by the end of 2027.

Stay tuned, because we’re not done yet. Several more CLCs are set to launch in New York in the coming months, including upcoming centers on Staten Island and Long Island. When the Staten Island center launches in August 2025, there will be an AT&T CLC in every New York City borough.
