Alaska is home to more than 700,000 residents with an estimated 2.7 million visitors in the last year. This means thousands of people are accessing AT&T networks as they live, work and travel across the state. Ensuring fast and reliable coverage to rural and urban communities is crucial for providing long-term connectivity and public safety.
As part of this effort, AT&T recently made several network enhancements in Southeast Alaska – giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. AT&T upgraded network infrastructure for 11 sites around Juneau and Skagway, more than doubling the areas network capacity.
Enhancements went live this summer and came after several years of efforts to boost service in the area. After the initial network enhancements, our team spent time optimizing the new upgrades to ensure improved network performance. We were thrilled that this investment and work alleviated the network congestion often felt during the high tourist season providing residents and visitors with greater connectivity.
The recent infrastructure upgrades are just one of the ways AT&T is working to deliver a fast, reliable and secure network across the state. From 2019 to 2023, AT&T invested nearly $250 million in our networks in Alaska. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.
We are proud to support reliable connectivity and look forward to continuously delivering for customers throughout Southeast Alaska and beyond.
