For leaders in four rural Door County communities, their vision more than two years ago to connect residents and businesses with high-speed broadband is finally coming to fruition – thanks to public-private projects with AT&T.
Various local studies in recent years have identified a significant digital divide gap in rural communities across Door County, with many households reporting slow, expensive, or no broadband options.
Leaders from the Town of Egg Harbor, the Town of Sevastopol, the Town of Sturgeon Bay, and the Village of Egg Harbor set out on a mission to bridge that digital gap – and bring high-speed broadband connectivity to every home and business.
We’re very proud that each community has selected AT&T to make fiber connectivity available for their residents.
This summer, I had the opportunity to join Governor Tony Evers and local leaders to celebrate these four projects totaling over $24 million that will bring AT&T Fiber to more than 5,400 customer locations in rural areas of Door County.

Governor Evers joins with AT&T executives and Door County leaders to celebrate the expansion of high-speed AT&T Fiber to four Door County communities: the Town of Egg Harbor, the Town of Sevastopol, the Town of Sturgeon Bay, and the Village of Egg Harbor.
These transformational projects will help bridge the digital gap in these communities – offering network reliability for everyday needs, from virtual education to remote work to telehealth access.
Today, AT&T Fiber is now available to nearly 350 customer locations in parts of the Town of Egg Harbor. Our fiber teams are working hard to bring high-speed broadband and all its benefits to the remaining locations as part of these four projects.
Residents and businesses can learn more about AT&T Fiber at fiber.att.com and can sign up to be notified when service will be available at their address at att.com/notifyme.
“From running a business and doing homework to talking with your doctor, having affordable high-speed internet is a necessity in the 21st century. It’s not a luxury anymore,” said Governor Tony Evers. “Families, businesses, farmers and others will have the opportunity to grow, ensuring this region continues to grow and thrive for years to come.”
“Broadband powers our world right now. It’s a key driver of economic growth, innovation and community connection. When we connect someone to the internet, we’re connecting them to greater possibility,” said Eileen Mitchell, president of AT&T’s Midwest states. “I want to thank our Door County leaders for partnering with us and trusting us with these transformational broadband projects.

Our four Door County projects include:
- Town of Egg Harbor: AT&T is working with the Town on an $8.5 million project to build fiber to more than 2,100 customer locations. AT&T Fiber is now available to 350 customer locations in the Town of Egg Harbor. The build is expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2026.
- Town of Sevastopol: AT&T is working with the Town on a $7.4 million project to expand AT&T Fiber to more than 2,000 customer locations. The build is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2026.
- Town of Sturgeon Bay: AT&T is working with the Town on a $5 million project to expand AT&T Fiber to more than 670 customer locations. The build is expected to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2026.
- Village of Egg Harbor: AT&T is working with the Village on a nearly $3.7 million project to expand AT&T Fiber to 618 customer locations. The build is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2027.
These public-private collaborations are an example of AT&T’s work with local governments to expand internet access and help close the digital divide. AT&T has committed to helping 25 million people nationally get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
