Improved Connectivity Brings Opportunity to Core Cleveland Neighborhoods

“There are a lot of people like me, who are struggling, and the AT&T Connected Learning Center at Esperanza brings us hope.  I went through a rough time when my kids left home and set out on their own.  I felt like there was nothing left; I had no idea what to do next.  But when you get online at the Connected Learning Center, you learn… and that’s when you start taking steps.  Now I’ve started taking college classes.  At 42, I thought it was too late for me, but it’s not.  This is what the AT&T Connected Learning Center at Esperanza can do.”

~ Ivy Fontanez, Esperanza client, Cleveland, Ohio

Ivy joined city officials and community leaders to celebrate as AT&T Connected Learning Centers recently opened in two Cleveland locations… on the city’s West Side and East Side.

Located within existing non-profits – Esperanza in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood and the Ashbury Senior Computer Community Center or ASC3 in the Glenville neighborhood – these centers help students, parents and families overcome barriers to connectivity so they can participate in an increasingly online world.

Learn more about what these centers bring to Cleveland in the three-minute video above. Both centers provide free access to AT&T Fiber internet, Wi-Fi and computers, as well as educational and mentoring resources for students and families. Connectivity is essential to creating economic opportunity and we’re proud to work together with Esperanza and ASC3 to serve Clevelanders.

We’re also making broadband more affordable by driving down the cost of home internet for eligible households to the best monthly rate – $0. This free option is made possible by combining a new plan from our low-cost Access from AT&T program with federal benefits from the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

These efforts are part of AT&T’s $2 billion commitment from 2021-2023 to help bridge the digital divide through efforts that promote broadband affordability, accessibility and safe adoption. This renewed commitment to the communities we serve combines AT&T’s low-cost broadband service offerings with community investment. In addition, from 2019-2021, we invested more than $300 million in our wireless and wireline networks in Cleveland.
