Expanding Our Services in Louisiana

A few weeks ago, we were proud to join with Governor John Bel Edwards along with state and community leaders in Baker, Louisiana, to announce that AT&T Fiber – our 100 percent fiber-optic, high-speed broadband service – is now available to more than 500,000 customer locations in communities across Louisiana as of the end of 2022.

The men and women of AT&T have worked incredibly hard in recent years to turn billions of dollars in AT&T investments in Louisiana into the modern connectivity that Louisiana businesses and residents want.

Today, we have the largest fiber footprint in the state and rest assured, our work continues.

We’re making our network more resilient – by further hardening facilities, undergrounding critical fiber routes and enhancing the redundancies in our network to ensure multiple routes of connectivity in the event of natural disasters.

Last year alone in Louisiana, our wireless teams brought dozens of new mobility sites on air – both small cells and macro sites. They also completed more than 1,000 upgrades and enhancements at existing sites across the state. This work is critical to giving residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service.

With more than 3,200 employees who call Louisiana home, we are committed to connecting communities across the state.

And to be clear, while our team has done tremendous work delivering access to services to more than half a million customer locations across Louisiana, the effort to close the digital divide isn’t all about investment in infrastructure.

It’s also about investment in communities and investment in people.

It’s about removing barriers and obstacles to connectivity. We are proud to work with community organizations across the state, donating computers and laptops, providing digital skills trainings, and offering Access from AT&T, our low-cost broadband program, that in conjunction with the federal ACP program provides home internet access for eligible households for as low as $0 per month.

Today, customers have access to AT&T Fiber in many cities and towns across the state, including: Abbeville, Abita Springs, Alexandria, Baker, Baton Rouge, Bogalusa, Bossier City, Brusly, Carencro, Covington, Denham Springs, Estelle, Gretna, Hammond, Houghton, Houma, Kenner, LaPlace, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Mandeville, Marrero, Metairie, Monroe, Morgan City, New Iberia, New Orleans, Opelousas, Ponchatoula, Ruston, Shreveport, Slidell, Stonewall, Sulphur, Terrytown, Thibodaux, Walker, West Monroe, Youngsville, Zachary, and many other parts of Louisiana.

For more than 140 years, we’ve invested in Louisiana. We have celebrated many milestones, and it’s an honor to be part of the AT&T team and to work alongside community leaders, and state and local elected officials as we make efforts to help close the digital divide in Louisiana.
