Connecting Charlotte: AT&T Launches New Hub for Digital Opportunity

AT&T just opened the doors to a brand-new Connected Learning Center (CLC) at the Urban League of Central Carolinas in Charlotte, marking an exciting first for the city and a second CLC in North Carolina.

The new CLC is designed to help Charlotte residents who face barriers to online participation by helping them stay connected and take advantage of the opportunities that come with access to the internet and digital resources.

It offers free high-speed AT&T Fiber internet, Wi-Fi and refurbished Dell computers, giving visitors the tools to learn, work and connect. Guests can explore The Achievery℠ — AT&T’s free digital learning platform — and build new skills through digital literacy courses offered in partnership with the Public Library Association.

To build on this commitment, AT&T contributed $50,000 to the Urban League of Central Carolinas to expand programming and continue making a lasting impact in the community.

“We are proud to open a Connected Learning Center at the Urban League of Central Carolinas and appreciate AT&T’s investment in the Charlotte community,” said Robyn Hamilton, President and CEO, Urban League of Central Carolinas. “Access to technology and digital resources is essential for education, workforce development and economic mobility. This new center will help bridge the digital divide students and families encounter by providing the tools and support they need to thrive in school, work and life.”

“We appreciate AT&T’s continued investment in our state and their commitment to connecting our communities to the resources needed to thrive in today’s digital world,” said Annette Taylor, Deputy Secretary of Broadband and Digital Opportunity, N.C. Department of Information Technology. “Strong public-private partnerships like AT&T and the Urban League of Central Carolinas help drive economic growth and create a brighter, more connected future for all North Carolinians.”

Through support from the Urban League team, AT&T employee volunteers and community leaders, participants are building confidence and developing digital skills that open doors to new possibilities.

This initiative is part of AT&T’s larger effort to close the digital divide by expanding internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T plans to open at least 100 Connected Learning Centers by the end of 2027 as part of its nationwide $5 billion investment to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

By collaborating with organizations like the Urban League of Central Carolinas, AT&T helps ensure every CLC reaches those who need it most — because today, connectivity is everything.
