Access to reliable connectivity and technology has the power to transform lives, open doors to new possibilities, and advance economic opportunities in local communities. That’s why we are proud to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia to open a new AT&T Connected Learning Center in Macon.
The new Connected Learning Center serves as a place where youth, families and neighbors can complete homework, learn new job skills, participate in telemedicine appointments, and apply for job opportunities. It offers free access to high-speed AT&T Fiber internet, Wi-Fi, and 15 refurbished Dell computers. As part of this commitment, AT&T contributed $50,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia to help ensure ongoing impact.
For more than 80 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia has provided a safe place for young people to learn, grow, and have fun. The club offers holistic services and nationally recognized programs for young people that address today’s most pressing issues during the critical out-of-school hours when youth are not in school or at home.
“We are thrilled to open an AT&T Connected Learning Center at our Boys & Girls Club in Macon. This center is a safe space where our youth can connect to the internet and digital resources helping prepare them for a future full of possibilities. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia, we believe in creating great futures for our youth, and this Connected Learning Center is helping us achieve our mission.” – Phillip Bryant, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia
“In today’s world, our children must have easy access to the digital world in order to expand their opportunities. Whether it’s research for homework, accessing schoolwork, or looking and applying for jobs, access is the first step to a successful future. I want to thank AT&T and the Boys & Girls Club for providing this much-needed resource in our community.” – Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller
The Connected Learning Center will also serve families and neighbors living at the Macon Housing Authority located directly next to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia. The Center will provide access to digital skills training, community resources, and tools for residents of all ages.
