AT&T has opened a new Connected Learning Center (CLC) at the Baxter Community Center in Grand Rapids. It’s the third AT&T CLC in Michigan and the first in Grand Rapids.
The new Connected Learning Center is part of AT&T’s mission to bridge the digital divide and connect more Michiganders to high-speed internet. Whether it’s providing a space with broadband for students to complete their homework, helping people get back into the workforce, or holding workshops for our senior citizens to learn how to navigate new technology, the center will serve as a beacon of connectivity.
“We are committed to opening these centers because we know connecting changes everything. It’s become a key to opportunity,” said David Lewis, President, AT&T Heartland States. “This center will not only give Baxter families access to free internet connectivity, but it will also provide educational and mentoring resources to help them pursue new possibilities in life, school and work.”
The center is equipped with high-speed AT&T Fiber internet, Wi-Fi , and 15 new Dell computers. It also provides educational resources such as The Achievery, a free digital learning platform, and free digital literacy courses in partnership with the Public Library Association.
AT&T has also contributed $50,000 to Baxter to support programming initiatives at the center and help meet the needs of the community.
“Together with AT&T, we’re not just providing technology access,” said Sonja Forte, Executive Director, Baxter Community Center. “We are creating a space where individuals can access health care, find job opportunities, pursue education, and build meaningful connections with their neighbors. This partnership with AT&T demonstrates what’s possible when corporate citizenship aligns with community needs.”
The Baxter Community Center is one of 25 non-profits awarded CLCs by AT&T in 2025. We plan to open at least 100 CLCs nationwide by the end of 2027.
These centers are part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
