AT&T employees from throughout New Jersey volunteered at the Eternal Life Christian Center Food Pantry in Somerset on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
The volunteer activity was organized by an AT&T employee resource group (ERG), NETwork NY/NJ. Employees are volunteering the first Saturday of every month through December 2022. The ERG also is raising funds to help the nonprofit purchase a truck and cover other expenses. Local food banks, like the one run by Eternal Life Christian Center, redistributes this produce, but they need our help.
Jackie Jackson, AT&T director of retail sales operations and member of NETwork NY/NJ, shared that her passion stems from being hungry as a child.
“I can recall what it was like to not have enough food to eat and how it made me feel. Knowing that about half of the food produced in the United States goes to waste, made me want to volunteer to help get food to people who need it.”
“The ELCC Food Pantry is a means of demonstrating the added value of love we have for those who are being challenged for a major essential of life— food!” Pastor Zolie Smith of the Eternal Life Christian said. “As long as hunger is victimizing our fellowman, we will step in to help alleviate that need as our God given mandate, that “when I (Jesus)was hungry you fed me,” he added. “When we serve our brothers and sisters we are actually serving God—because we are all His children, where everyone is important, everyone is significant and everyone is a blessing!!! When our brothers and sisters are in need; We move into action to HELP!” he said.
The employee volunteer effort is part of AT&T Believes, a company-wide, localized effort to combine employees’ passion, creativity and generosity of time and resources with AT&T’s longstanding relationships with external organizations to make a positive impact around the world.
