It was our pleasure to support the U.S. Embassy Mexico City’s Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) pitch competition on March 15, for the second year in a row.  The fantastic event featured remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar and AT&T Mexico CEO Mónica Aspe, and also featured Daniel Rios, Assistant Vice President, External Affairs & Sustainability, AT&T Mexico as a judge.

“AT&T is proud to partner with the United States Embassy in Mexico to sponsor the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, a program that has impacted over 1,000 female-led new businesses, directly tackling economic inequalities at a grassroot level in our country.” said AT&T Mexico CEO Mónica Aspe.

We were so inspired and impressed by all the women who brought forth their excellent pitches to this event! And a special congratulations to the three winners!

• 1^st Place: Julia Asunción Virgilio Hernández (Campeche, Campeche)

‘Recicladora Carmelitas’ is a company dedicated to the recycling of materials such as PET and cardboard. Julia offers jobs to indigenous women in the municipality as an alternative to generate income for their families while promoting the conservation of natural resources such as water, soil, minerals, and avoiding pollution that occurs during their extraction and product development.

• 2^nd Place: Ixzi Juliza Flores Hernández (Hermosillo, Sonora)

‘CAD Centro Educativo Psicológico’ offers neurodevelopmental disorders services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Ixzi Juliza’s main experience is working with children with autism.

• 3^rd Place: Luz Angelica Castro Jiménez (Nogales, Sonora)

Apotheke Custom Made Organics is a local company that formulates personal care products such as soaps, liquid and stick creams, lip and cuticle balms, deodorants with organic materials.

This event was also part of the U.S.-Mexico Bicentennial of Diplomatic Relations, being celebrated by both governments throughout 2023. AT&T continues to host and support events to commemorate the Bicentennial. AT&T Mexico CEO Mónica Aspe remarked on the importance of the bilateral relationship during the event, noting, “The many ways in which Mexico and the U.S. are irreversibly linked – historically, economically, and culturally – far surpass our differences. As we celebrate 200 years of diplomatic relations between our neighboring countries, it’s important to remember that we share many common goals and must continue to work closely to ensure that North America grows as a global leader in innovation, trade, and development.”
