As the COVID-19 pandemic began closing down America, AT&T made a commitment to support food insecurity issues growing across in America. One community serverly impacted by COVID-19 was Long Island, which is why AT&T donated $30,000 to the Salvation Army of Long Island. AT&T’s contribution helped provide 60,000 meals for 2,000 Long Island families, supporting The Salvation Army hubs in Hempstead, Freeport, Westbury, Riverhead and East Northport.
“As a member of the Long Island community, we consider it a privilege to serve our neighbors during their time of need and uncertainty,” said Captain Charles Roberts of The Salvation Army, Long Island County Coordinator. “In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we have evolved food service delivery to ensure that immediate needs of community are met. This generous gift from AT&T will support The Salvation Army’s efforts to meet the growing needs of our neighbors.”

Nationally, AT&T has pledged $5.5 million to organizations including the Salvation Army to help feed first responders and healthcare workers during the pandemic. In addition to the Salvation Army, funding is going to The Salvation Army, Feeding America and Team Rubicon.
