Summer 2025 was a busy one, with multiple events to help close the digital divide in Pennsylvania.
In July, AT&T, the YMCA of Reading & Berks County, and Human-I-T teamed up to provide 50 refurbished laptops for the students in grades 3-12, and 20 tablets with protective covers to K-3 students who participate in programs at the Reading nonprofit.
The devices were distributed during a special “Holiday in July Celebration” at the Reading YMCA that also included sessions on online safety and an introduction to the resources available on AT&T’s The Achievery.

In early August, AT&T and Human-I-T provided 170 refurbished laptops to Police Athletic League of Philadelphia (Philly PAL) for the students who participate in programming at Philly PAL centers across the city. Again this year, the laptops were distributed during the “Back-to-School Pep Rally” organized by Jaws Youth PlayBook (Ron Jaworski’s Foundation) at the Strawberry Mansion center.
We also contributed $25,000 to Philly PAL to help the organization expand access to technology, offer digital literacy workshops, and establish a place to complete homework, apply for jobs, and build confidence in using technology.

And in late August, we teamed up with the Harrisburg Area YMCA and Human-I-T to provide 50 refurbished laptops for area students. AT&T also contributed $15,000 to the YMCA to support a Digital Learning Hub for middle and high school students that will provide technology and training in areas such as digital citizenship, online safety, social media responsibility, and a place to complete homework.

We also made contributions to organizations as part of the AT&T Connected Learning initiative, including $15,000 to the Literacy Center in Allentown to support adults and seniors in attending an administrative program that teaches digital literacy skills, job search skills, and clerical skills to help them obtain better employment.
And, AT&T contributed $25,000 to Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre SHINE program to support low-income students grades 1-8 and their families with access to technology and assistance in accessing information and applying for community resources.
These projects are part of our initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
We know there’s more work to do, so we will continue to engage local organizations who can help us connect more Pennsylvanians to greater possibility.
