Access to the Internet Connects People to Greater Possibilities

In Chicago, we just celebrated AT&T achieving 10 million fiber customers nationwide.

Here’s how we did it:

First, with our friends at Compudopt, AT&T provided 200 laptops to students and families at the James R. Jordan Boys & Girls Club of Chicago.

Second, thanks to a new philanthropic initiative through Compudopt, students and families who are eligible can receive a full year of AT&T Fiber at no cost to them.

The first Chicago recipient of the free fiber initiative is fifteen-year-old Naeemah, a Boys & Girls Club member on the city’s west side. She and her family received a laptop computer and access to free AT&T Fiber internet to help her pursue her dreams.

Naeemah and her grandmother, Bridget, said that the connectivity will help her search for colleges as she pursues her goal of becoming an attorney.

“Having access to a home computer increases educational and economic opportunities and can help level the playing field for our kids,” said Susanna Wickham, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. “We’re grateful for AT&T and Compudopt’s support and know these tools will help our students thrive.”

AT&T is proud to collaborate with organizations including Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and Compudopt to help bridge the digital divide in Chicago.

We look forward to helping even more families get connected, and that is so important, because access to the internet connects people to greater possibilities.
