AT&T customers and FirstNet subscribers in Western Pennsylvania got a big boost in wireless connectivity. We’ve added 9 new cell sites throughout Western Pennsylvania to enhance the area’s mobile broadband coverage and help give residents, visitors and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service. Our investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices.

Thanks to these new sites, they’ll be able to experience better network connectivity while streaming videos, sharing on social media or texting family and friends,” said David Kerr, president, AT&T Pennsylvania. “We’re working every day to provide better coverage for the community and its first responders.”
The new sites are in:
- Armstrong County: A new site in Dayton adds additional coverage and capacity in the borough and along SR-839. A second site adds additional coverage and capacity between Worthington and West Kittanning along US-422 and Old US Highway 422.
- Clearfield County: This new site adds additional coverage and capacity in Knox Township and along SR-453 southeast of Olanta.
- Crawford County: This new site adds additional coverage and capacity between Mill Village and Cambridge Springs along US-19.
- Erie County: This new site adds additional coverage and capacity around I-90 and US-19 and at Splash Lagoon resort.
- Forest County: This new site adds coverage and capacity West of Tionesta along US-62 between Tionesta and President.
- Mercer County: This new site adds coverage and capacity northeast of Sandy Lake and along CR-884 and CR-1012.
- Venango County: This new site adds additional coverage and capacity east of Oil City and Woodland Heights along US-62.
- Westmoreland County: This new site adds additional coverage in Smithton and along SR-981.
These new sites will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety’s dedicated communications platform and give Pennsylvania’s first responders access to the nation’s fastest overall network experience.1 FirstNet is built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. It’s designed to help first responders in Pennsylvania and across the country connect to the critical information they need – when they need it – so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safer.
The new sites have Band 14 spectrum, which is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.
