AT&T Statement on FCC Action to Eliminate Outdated Regulations

The following may be attributed to Joan Marsh, AT&T Executive Vice President of Regulatory and State External Affairs:

“AT&T welcomes the FCC’s decision to eliminate regulations that have long outlived their intended purpose.  Rules surrounding the long-distance telephone market no longer foster competition or protect consumers. The Commission rightly recognizes the dramatic changes that have occurred in the marketplace over the last two decades and the significant waste of resources imposed by these outdated rules – resources that could be put toward broadband technologies and advanced services for American consumers and businesses. We are confident that as the Commission continues to review USTelecom’s broader petition, it will see the value in further removing outdated regulations that reduce investment incentives and delay transitioning to next-generation services.”
