AT&T launches ‘Believe SC’ to join the fight against hunger

AT&T and the AT&T Foundation are stepping forward to help tackle the problem of hunger across the state through the Believe SC℠ initiative, part of the company’s nationwide campaign to make a difference in communities.

“The threat of hunger looming over more South Carolinians than ever before.”

Jane Sosebee – President, AT&T South Carolina

“AT&T believes in South Carolina and in the resiliency of our people and our state,” said Jane Sosebee, president of AT&T South Carolina. “However, the economic impact of COVID-19 and April’s tornadoes have left the threat of hunger looming over more South Carolinians than ever before.  We are committed to providing the connections through which people can take advantage of new opportunities. But we understand that seizing those opportunities is difficult when one is hungry.”

As part of Believe SC, AT&T and the AT&T Foundation are donating $165,000* to help provide nourishing food for those in need. This will involve supporting four food banks that serve the entire state:  Harvest Hope Food Bank, Golden Harvest Food Bank, Lowcountry Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank.

“Hunger strikes at the very core of a person, impacting every aspect of their life,” said Brenda Shaw, chief development officer of the Lowcountry Food Bank. “It is especially damaging during this time of uncertainty. We appreciate the support of AT&T and all those who are contributing time and resources to this ongoing fight against hunger.”

Additional details regarding AT&T’s collaboration with community organizations as part of Believe SC will be announced throughout the year.

Believe SC is an extension of AT&T Believes℠, a larger company-wide initiative, which aims to create positive change in local communities. To learn more about AT&T Believes initiatives across the country, please click here.
