Re: Support for HB 426
Dear Chairman Stone, Lt. Governor Duncan, Speaker Ralston and Governor Kemp,
For decades, AT&T has been proud to be at the forefront of the fight for equality and social justice. We were one of the first companies to endorse the Civil Rights Act, and we’ve long supported social justice organizations with our donations and our involvement.
Obviously, much more needs to be done to ensure that everyone receives equal treatment under the law and that when injustices occur, the justice system has tools available to deal with them swiftly, fairly, and effectively. That is why we, as Georgians in the AT&T Legal Department, write today to urge Georgia to join 46 other states in enacting hate crimes legislation to help protect all Georgians from being victimized by bigotry, hatred, and unjust discrimination.
We want to live and work in a Georgia that provides equal protection to everyone, regardless of their race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, mental disability, or physical disability. Every Georgian deserves that protection, all of us have a moral obligation to ensure they receive it, and accordingly, we urge you to enact HB 426.
