AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Muhlenberg County

AT&T customers and FirstNet® subscribers in Muhlenberg County are getting better wireless connectivity, thanks to a new cell tower located along Fox Run in Greenville.

“Beyond delivering information where and when people need it, a robust wireless communications network can help save lives, particularly in rural areas,” said State Representative Melinda Gibbons Prunty. “Even though there is more work to be done, this improvement in wireless service not only will help people stay connected, but it illustrates how the Legislature’s work to encourage private investment in advanced technology benefits communities like ours, as well as Kentucky as a whole.”

By enhancing the area’s 4G LTE coverage and helping give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service, AT&T’s investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices.

“Investing in our wireless network is just one of the ways we continually work to provide better coverage for the community and its first responders, along with improved network reliability and increased capacity.”

“We want our customers to have a great experience,” said Hank Mangeot, regional director of external affairs, AT&T Kentucky. “Investing in our wireless network is just one of the ways we continually work to provide better coverage for the community and its first responders, along with improved network reliability and increased capacity.”

From 2016 to 2020, we invested more than $1.3 billion in our wireless and wired networks in Kentucky. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.

With 4G LTE service, customers can experience better network connectivity while streaming videos, sharing on social media or texting family and friends.

The new site will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety’s dedicated communications platform and give Kentucky’s first responders access to always-on, 24-hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data. FirstNet is bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities to help those users stay safe and save lives.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

FirstNet is the only nationwide, high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders and the extended public safety community. It is built with AT&T in public-private partnership with the federal government. The FirstNet network is providing public safety with truly dedicated coverage and capacity when they need it, unique benefits like always-on priority and preemption, and high-quality Band 14 spectrum. These advanced capabilities help fire, EMS, EMA, law enforcement and 9-1-1 save lives and protect communities.
