In the Community
We launched our Believe St. Louis and Believe Kansas City initiatives in late 2019 with the goal of combining our philanthropic giving with the power of our employee engagement. And while the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more challenging for employee engagement, we’ve found ways to continue the mission virtually and our giving never slowed. Below are just a few recent examples where we’ve not only made a financial contribution, but also helped raise awareness about the work these non-profit organizations do to make our communities better:
- Under the Believe initiative and our COVID-19 response, AT&T and the AT&T Foundation have made financial contributions to non-profit organizations throughout Missouri. These organizations include the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, NPower, KC Common Good, and Rockhurst University.
- Social Justice and Economic Empowerment: A focus on our $29,000 investment in KC Common Good. As Believe Kansas City pivots to economic empowerment in the Kansas City area, the AT&T Foundation contributed $29,000 to KC Common Good. Through its Working 4 Youth 500 Initiative, it provides real-world experiences and shapes positive outcomes for youth by allowing them to identify their passion. It also helps them gain important skills like finding a purpose and growing a better outlook, as well as building greater confidence.

FirstNet Updates
The FirstNet Network Expands Across Missouri to Advance Public Safety Communications Capabilities: New Infrastructure Will Also Improve Connectivity for Area Residents and Visitors; Public Safety’s Network Supports COVID-19 Emergency Response.
Missouri’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of new, purpose-built FirstNet cell sites in 18 counties across the state. This new infrastructure is a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety. Over 40 cell sites were added throughout rural Missouri during 2020. The new purpose-built FirstNet cell sites were requested by the State of Missouri when it signed on to FirstNet and these cell sites have been delivered two years ahead of schedule.
AT&T partnered with the FirstNet Authority in a recorded Webex event celebrating the activation of a new FirstNet purpose-built tower in Hartville, MO. KFEQ 680 Radio’s “Hot Line” talk show also worked with AT&T and the First Responder Network Authority, to discuss FirstNet service, how FirstNet was established, and what FirstNet brings to first responders in time of emergency.

HBO MAX Scheduled to Launch in 39 Latin America Territories in June 2021: WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform HBO Max is scheduled to launch in late June in 39 territories across Latin America and the Caribbean, marking the first availability for the platform outside the U.S. Read more about what’s to come HERE.
